Annette Shaffer

Annette Schafer is a CHA & PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor with a deep passion for both horses and helping students overcome behavioral and learning challenges. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and is also a certified Registered Behavior Technician.

Annette’s love for horses began at the age of six, and she spent her childhood and adult life riding and showing horses at the 4-H level. This early experience with horses has shaped her approach to equine-assisted therapy. Though now retired, she worked for Lake Zurich School District 95’s special education program, where her extensive background in working with students with behavioral needs led to her certification as a Registered Behavior Technician. This certification allows Annette to work directly with the district’s behavior analyst to provide interventions and support for students in need of behavioral assistance.

At Partners for Progress, Annette combines her experience with horses and her expertise in behavioral therapy to make a meaningful impact on the lives of riders, and her dedication to both equine therapy and behavior interventions helps ensure that every rider receives the support they need to thrive, both on and off the horse.
