Frequently Asked Questions
Who does PFP serve?
At Partners for Progress, we proudly serve individuals of all ages seeking physical, mental, or emotional support through equine therapy. We believe progress and growth are lifelong journeys, and everyone deserves the opportunity to benefit from the transformative power of the horse. This inclusive approach sets us apart and allows us to tailor each experience to meet the unique needs of every rider, no matter where they are in life.
Why the horse connection?
Horses communicate without words, which means the connection we build with them happens through deeper, more intuitive channels. Our bodies naturally respond to rhythm; it helps regulate movement, focus, and emotional balance. Horses, with their steady and responsive gait, have an incredible ability to provide that rhythmic input, helping individuals organize their physical and sensory systems. Beyond that, the bond between humans and horses is profoundly powerful, offering trust, connection, and healing in ways that words alone never could.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, depending on the program the client is enrolled in and what insurance you have. Our Direct Treatment of PT, OT, and Speech Therapy allows for certain insurance coverage.
How long do clients ride at PFP?
Each individual comes to Partners for Progress with their own goals, whether it’s to achieve specific developmental milestones, work toward short-term progress, or simply experience the joy of therapeutic riding. What truly sets PFP apart is our unique ability to grow alongside our clients. From hands-on therapeutic intervention to our Occupational Life Skills program and even national-level competition on our EWD Show Team, our services are designed to evolve with each person. We provide meaningful, personalized support at every stage of life, creating a pathway for lifelong growth and success.
What percentage of clients reach their goals?
Between 78-80% of clients are making moderate or better progress toward their individualized goals.
How are client goals determined and assessed?
Goal setting at Partners for Progress is a collaborative process that combines insights from our therapists and instructors, based on observations during the initial sessions, with input shared by the rider and their family. This partnership ensures that each goal is meaningful, personalized, and aligned with the rider’s unique needs and aspirations.
How are the horses and riders paired?
Horses and riders are paired to best meet the needs of the rider and challenge progress and development. It's important that the movement of the horse regulates the rider, while addressing engagement, motor skills, and communication.
Are there other ways to get involved?
There are countless ways to get involved at Partners for Progress, whether it’s offering hands-on support in the arena or lending a hand at one of our special events, there’s a role for everyone. Each spring, we especially need some extra muscle to help manage the 6,000 bales of hay our hardworking horses require. We also rely on the generous talents of professional volunteers in areas like event planning, marketing, social media, and community outreach. However you choose to give your time, your involvement makes a lasting impact.
